Dry Cough

Most likely you have a Dry Cough. Now that you have identified your type of cough, the next step is to choose the medication to find the appropriate type of medication for your cough.

Butamirate Citrate

As a dry cough remedy, Butamirate Citrate is included in the formulation of DURO-TUSS^® BC for effective dry cough relief.

DURO-TUSS^® Butamirate Citrate

• Available in two formats
  • Butamirate Citrate (DURO-TUSS^® BC) 7.5 mg / 5mL 60ml Syrup
  • Butamirate Citrate (DURO-TUSS^® BC) 50mg Sustained-Release Tablet
• Dual action – suppresses cough and eases breathing, giving relief for dry cough
• Dosing
  • For Syrup
    • Usual dose is 30 mg daily in 3 to 4 divided doses by mouth.
  • For Tablet
    • Adolescents Over 12 years: 1 tablet 2 times daily. Maximum daily dose: 2 tablets (100 mg).
    • Adults: 1 tablet 3 times daily (at least 8 hours between doses). Maximum daily dose: 3 tablets (150 mg) or as prescribed by the physician.
    • To be swallowed whole.

Cough with Phlegm

Ambroxol Hydrochloride

• 24H dosing for the sustained-release capsules
• Dosing
  • For Syrup
    • Adults and Children over 12 years: 10 mL (2 teaspoonfuls) 2 times daily
    • Children 7-12 years: 5 mL (1 teaspoonful) 2 times daily
    • Children 2-6 years: 2.5 mL (½ teaspoonful) 3 times daily
    • Children 1-2 years: 2.5 mL (½ teaspoonful) 2 times daily
    • Or as prescribed by the physician.
  • For Sustained-release Capsule
    • 1 capsule daily
    • Should be swallowed whole without chewing after a meal with adequate fluid or as prescribed by the physician.

When to see a doctor

If you’ve had a cold, your cough should clear up on its own in a few weeks. It is important to see your doctor if you have any concerns about your cough or any other symptoms, or if:

• Your cough gets worse or lasts longer than 10 days to 3 weeks
• You have a fever, difficulty breathing, or chest pains
• You cough up blood, or green or yellow phlegm
• Your coughing causes vomiting
• If any adverse effects occur
