Dry Cough

Cough with Phlegm

Is your cough wet with mucus buildup? That’s definitely cough with phlegm.

Ambroxol Hydrochloride

As a remedy for cough with phlegm, it is included as an ingredient in our DURO-TUSS® AX for effective wet cough relief.

Ambroxol Hydrochloride (DURO-TUSS® AX)

  • Available in two formats
  • Triple Action Relief for Cough with phlegm (thins and loosens mucus, clears chest congestion, and protects the lungs from phlegm buildup).
  • 24H dosing for the sustained-release capsules
  • Dosing
    • For Syrup
      • Adults and Children over 12 years: 10 mL (2 teaspoonfuls) 2 times daily
      • Children 7-12 years: 5 mL (1 teaspoonful) 2 times daily
      • Children 2-6 years: 2.5 mL (½ teaspoonful) 3 times daily
      • Children 1-2 years: 2.5 mL (½ teaspoonful) 2 times daily
      • Or as prescribed by the physician.
    • For Sustained-release Capsule
      • 1 capsule daily
      • Should be swallowed whole without chewing after a meal with adequate fluid or as prescribed by the physician.

When to see a doctor

If you’ve had a cold, your cough should clear up on its own in a few weeks. It is important to see your doctor if you have any concerns about your cough or any other symptoms, or if:

  • Your cough gets worse or lasts longer than 10 days to 3 weeks
  • You have a fever, difficulty breathing, or chest pains
  • You cough up blood, or green or yellow phlegm
  • Your coughing causes vomiting
  • If any adverse effects occur
